Top Winter Wellness Trends Going Into 2024 ❄️
Winter is almost here, and we’re seeing some pretty interesting trends popping up for the season.
With the wellness industry continuing to grow, we dug into the most unique, emerging trends you might be hearing a lot more of in 2024.
Let’s get into the top winter wellness trends to help you feel your best as the days get colder.

Embracing the great outdoors with “Friluftsliv”
The Nordic tradition of Friluftsliv, or 'free-air-living', is all about celebrating time outside – even when you have to brave the cold!
This lifestyle celebrates the outdoors, regardless of weather, and it could be the breath of fresh air your wellness routine needs.
Or as psychologist Niels Eék likes to say: “We have a saying in Sweden: ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes’.”
He makes a strong point! Friluftsliv offers a healthy reminder that time outside, even when it’s cold, is just as important during the colder months.
All that time outside should make you pretty tired, leading us to the next winter trend:
Sleep syncing.
Dark, winter months naturally invite more sleep, and this latest trend centers around circadian rhythms.
Put simply — sleep syncing is the trend of aligning your lifestyle, and meal times, to the sun's schedule.
This means opting for lighter afternoon meals, avoiding eating heavy meals 3-4 hours before bed.
Coupled with innovative sleep aids like Glycine – shown in research to help the body reach deep sleep more quickly – sleep syncing might help lead to you better sleep this season.
Yet, while most people just focus on sleep, how you wake up is just as important.
Dr. Andrew Huberman is popularizing the idea of getting sunlight in your eyes as soon as you wake up.
“[It’s] the most powerful stimulus for wakefulness throughout the day, and it has a powerful positive impact on your ability to fall and stay asleep at night.”
If it’s still dark out when you wake up, you should use bright artificial lights as a substitute.
On cloudy, overcast days, you need even more time outside to get enough sunlight.
Even if you can’t see the sun, this can make a huge difference in your mood, mental health, wakefulness, metabolism, and more.
And one other critical tip he suggests?
Avoid looking at bright lights and screens late at night.
We were pretty shocked by how harmful this actually is!
That’ll help you be more alert. But what about when you hit a mid-day slump?
Try a mini-meditation.
Also called “bite-sized” meditations, this is lining up to be a huge wellness trend in 2024.
Most people think you have to sit for hours in silence to practice meditation.
But you can actually reap the benefits of it by practicing for just 60-seconds for a few hours during the day!
Dr. Maurice Duffy, an internationally renowned mindset coach, says this is one of the best ways to boost your wellness when you’re short on time.
And of course, we couldn’t ignore one of the biggest winter wellness struggles…
Dry, cracking skin.
UCHealth in Colorado has put together an incredible guide for combating dry, cracked skin during the winter months, that boils down to a few key points:
Drink lots of water, and consider adding electrolytes
Eat lots of fatty fish, avocadoes, almonds, and other key foods
Exfoliate your skin
Use antioxidant serum
Use moisturizing face cream and gentle cleansers
They dropped so much good information, so it’s well worth your time to check out their full guide here.
In conclusion…
This winter doesn’t have to be just another cold season to endure.
Rather, it can be a great time to dive into some of these effective, emerging wellness trends, for a happier healthier you.
Let’s bundle up, brave the cold, and in the spirit of Friluftsliv, enjoy the season and all it offers.
